Our biggest clients are anti-money laundering (AML) service providers, but we also support law enforcement, traders, and academic research.
Chainlabs has been acquired and has the financial backing of Lunar Rails (200 employees), but operates with the agility and independence of a startup.
About the Role
We are looking for a Web3 Data Intelligence Operator to help us discover websites and online actors that accept crypto payments.
This is a full-time, fully remote position with an immediate start. The role offers potential growth into team lead or management positions.
Your Responsibilities
- Discover web3 entities, for example, exchanges, gambling websites, Bitcoin mixers, public figures owning crypto, NFT rug pulls, and ATMs.
- Interact with these entities and record their information in a database.
- Help us identify crypto-related cybercrime on the darknet using a TOR browser, including darknet markets, stolen credit card sales, and money-laundering activities. You'll record these activities on a blacklist to increase web3 safety and trust.
- Read industry reports to understand web3 cybercrime trends and summarize findings in reports for clients and internal teams.
- Analyze platforms like Telegram, Discord, Reddit, and X (Twitter) to identify emerging threats, trends, and entities.
- Quality Control: Review data collected by you and your colleagues.
- Participate in building new web3 data products, such as whale alerts and exchange safety ranking websites.
Based on your abilities and interests, you may quickly take on additional responsibilities:
- Management position within our Data Operators team.
- Client-facing roles, directly providing and explaining collected data to clients.
- Investigation of lost and hacked funds recovery.
Must Have
- Strong organizational skills.
- An exceptional attention to detail.
- Experience in conducting in-depth online research.
- Proficiency with spreadsheets, CSV files, and data entry tools for handling large volumes of data.
- Strong critical thinking skills to accurately label entities and identify data anomalies.
- Autonomous and self-organized in a remote work environment.
- Excellent communication skills in both spoken and written English.
Nice to Have
The following skills are beneficial but not required. We don't expect candidates to possess all of them:
- Transacted with cryptocurrencies (BTC, ETH, LTC, BNB, DOGE, etc.).
- Basic knowledge of blockchain explorers: Familiarity with tools like Etherscan, Blockchair, or Bitcoin Explorer to trace wallet activity.
- Exposure to scams, malware, decentralized mixers, darkweb markets, atomic swaps, theft, or stolen coins.
- Understanding of Layer 1 and Layer 2 ecosystems, such as Solana, Tron, BNB Chain, and ETH ecosystems.
- Knowledge of DeFi, including swaps, bridges, DEXes, yield aggregators, and lending platforms.
- Basic experience with on-chain data tools such as Chainalysis (or equivalent), Nansen, Dune, and Flipside Crypto.
- Technical proficiency: Familiarity with TOR Browser, VPNs, OSINT software, and data scraping tools.
- Fluency in other languages (Arabic, Russian, Chinese, Spanish) to navigate non-English forums, darknet content, and local on-off ramps.
