What are you going to do?

You collect, interpret and analyse information from the internet. By combining this information, you identify, analyse and interpret trends, networks and phenomena. You support the accessibility, securing and processing of relevant content and (meta)data, and share this with relevant partners. You locate important online forums based on your expertise in combination with well-considered search strategies and provide interpretation of thematic content.

You constantly align your work with investigative and intelligence interests and take into account the legal framework within which the tasks are performed. In addition, you ensure that you remain informed of developments in that area. You are part of a network of OSINT specialists and are the connecting link with colleagues in intelligence and investigation, focused on an optimal return from digital sources. You also actively seek cooperation with other colleagues and partners.

Where are you going to work?

You will be working at the Cybercrime Team of the unit The Hague. Cybercrime Team The Hague, together with the nine cybercrime teams of the other units and the High Tech Crime Team (THTC) of the National Unit, is part of a unique national network in the field. Investigations into complex cybercrime, such as phishing, ransomware, DDoS and thematic CSVs, are the core business of the team.

Team Cybercrime has recently become part of the Thematic Investigation department of the Regional Investigation Service. Together with the Environment, Morals, TBKK and Finance teams, we form a dedicated department in the investigation of the unit and we are in close contact with each other.

The Cybercrime Team consists of specialists in the field of digital expertise, (digital) financial expertise, analysis, OSINT, public-private partnerships and tactical investigations. In addition to conducting investigations in complex and large-scale cybercrime cases, which often have a major social impact and risk of failure, our goal is also to disrupt and prevent cybercrime.

We are connected to the Digital Transformation Program in the unit and contribute through this route to the dissemination of knowledge and expertise in the field of cybercrime.

Who are you?

Naturally, you are analytically very strong. You can quickly distil relevant information from extensive digital information sources. You identify opportunities, are alert to patterns and developments, and know how to make connections. You can record and present facts clearly and in a structured manner. You easily distinguish between main and secondary issues and act and communicate tactfully. You are discreet and can deal with confidential information. You seek connections and know when to involve network partners. You are enterprising and continue to function effectively, even in crisis situations.

In addition, you have/have:

  • HBO (bachelor) work and thinking level* (preferably based on an ICT education);
  • a driving license B;
  • good knowledge of the English language, spoken and written;
  • work experience and/or relevant knowledge related to open source research;
  • you have knowledge of internet and network technologies;
  • Familiarity with various operating systems and databases is an advantage.

What we offer

The location is Voorburg. There is room for 1 fte. This is a position for 36 hours per week.

Depending on your background, you will follow a 14-week training for specific employability (36 hours per week) at the Police Academy, possibly with an additional training program required for the position. During this training(s), you will receive the salary agreed with you. Positive completion of the mandatory assessment is a condition for starting the training. Completing the training is a requirement to be able to perform this function. Here you will find all information regarding the selection procedure, the assessment and the training.

During the internal specific police training you will be temporarily appointed as a civil servant in training. After completing the training we will offer you a temporary appointment, with a trial period of one year. After this trial period a permanent appointment will follow as soon as possible.

You can also expect the following from us:

  • a gross monthly salary of at least € 3,138 and a maximum of € 5,055 (scale 9 Bbp) based on a 36-hour working week;
  • 8% holiday bonus and 8.33% end-of-year bonus;
