Job Description
What are you going to do?
Within the TIM, we work on complex, often long-term international investigations. We investigate facts that were committed abroad, usually during a war, that are linked to the Netherlands in one way or another. For example, because the suspect is now in the Netherlands, has Dutch nationality or because there are Dutch victims.
Do you have extensive knowledge and experience in the field of Arabic-language open source research into international crimes? Then this position is a unique opportunity for you.
You will use your expertise to advise, supervise and conduct investigations into serious international crimes. As an Arabist, you will work with a high-quality team of professionals and will be responsible for supervising and conducting open source investigations into complex criminal cases, in particular by:
- the collection, processing and analysis of evidence in complex international criminal investigations;
- the preparation of complex documents, including reports, advice and reports.
Being able to report clearly and transfer knowledge is an important part of your work. You are fully involved in the international investigations and also have a strong advisory role towards your colleagues and the team management. Due to the nature of the work, you must be innovative and have a pioneering spirit in order to optimally use the investigative opportunities. Because the investigations relate to conflicts abroad, it is important that you are prepared to thoroughly immerse yourself in the history and culture of other countries.
Where are you going to work?
You will be formally assigned to the International Crimes Team (TIM). The TIM is part of the National Investigation and Intervention Unit and works closely with the International Crimes Cluster of the National Public Prosecution Service. The TIM is an independent team consisting of a Strategic Cluster and three Tactical Investigation Clusters. As an OSINT specialist, you will work at the Strategic Cluster. In addition to experienced detectives, the TIM consists of Arabists, historians, OSINT specialists and lawyers who jointly prepare and conduct investigations into international crimes and take responsibility for interventions.
Who are you?
You are an experienced specialist in open source intelligence who is at home in both spoken and written Arabic. In addition, you have extensive work experience in the field of international crimes. As a specialist, you are able to view issues from different angles and come up with original and effective ideas or solutions for problems related to your expertise. You are focused on cooperation and are able to distinguish between main and secondary issues.
Due to the international nature of our network and our investigations, knowledge of the English language in speech and writing is also a requirement. You must also be willing and able to travel. Finally, it is important to know that due to the nature of our cases, you will be confronted with (visual) material that can be emotionally stressful.
In addition, you have:
- HBO (bachelor) work and thinking level*;
- at least 5 years of experience in the field of investigations into international crimes;
- excellent communication skills in Dutch, English and Arabic, both written and oral;
- the willingness to obtain the investigative skills required for this position.
What we offer
The location is Woerden. There is room for 1 fte. This is a position for 36 hours per week.
Depending on your background, you will follow a 14-week training for specific employability (36 hours per week) at the Police Academy, possibly with an additional training program required for the position. During this training(s), you will receive all the salary agreed with you. Positive completion of the mandatory assessment is a condition for starting the training. During the internal specific police training you will be temporarily appointed as a civil servant in training. After completing the training we will offer you a temporary appointment, with a trial period of one year. After this trial period a permanent appointment will follow as soon as possible.
Within the police, we invest in your future. We offer extensive development opportunities and an attractive package of employment conditions. Think of:
- a gross monthly salary of at least €3,200 and a maximum of €5,156 (scale 9 Bbp) based on a 36-hour working week;
- an Individual Choice Budget (IKB) that consists of two parts:
- A gross part of 17.86% of your salary. With this budget you can compose a part of your employment conditions yourself. For example, think of paying out your budget, buying vacation hours or development activities such as training.
- A net share of €377 per year. This budget can be used for sustainability goals, union dues and vitality.
