What are you going to do?

As an intelligence specialist Open Source Intelligence (OSINT), you are the digital point of reference within the department. One colleague will focus on the theme of undermining and one colleague will focus on the theme of public order. As an OSINT specialist, you support colleagues in, among other things, refining the information collected by means of OSINT. This includes analyzing contacts, networks and threats on/by persons. You do this in the area of ​​your theme to which you are linked. You make it possible for your team to work digitally safely and invest in OSINT-based team development. In doing so, you identify opportunities, but you also recognize the risks of developments in the OSINT domain. You advise your managers and colleagues, whether asked or not. You know how to present and convey advice in an accessible and clear manner, so that your recommendations lead to concrete actions or insights.

In addition to a strong advisory role, you are also involved in collecting and securing (online) data on a daily basis. You distil information from various information sources, including police systems. You also know better than anyone how to make relevant (meta)data from open sources and social media accessible in a secure manner and you know how to secure this. By combining online data with information from traditional (open and police) sources, you identify, analyze and interpret incidents, networks and phenomena. In this way, you make a direct contribution to the team you work with on a daily basis.

Where are you going to work?

The Regional Intelligence Department is part of the DRIO. The department consists of the Regional Intelligence Hub (RIK), the Real Time Intelligence Center (RTIC) and the International Legal Assistance Center (IRC).
You will work at the RIK in Amsterdam. This dynamic team is the important link between the operational (local) police units and the national intelligence organization. The RIK carries out information coordination on prioritized security themes from the national and regional intelligence agenda. The spearhead of the DRIO and therefore also within the RIK is to place the prioritized security themes at the center of the work. The RIK is divided into various clusters, within which these different themes are worked on. Think of: counterterrorism, public order, monitoring & security, undermining, excessive violence and the Front Office component (the counter for unit-wide information exchange).

We are looking for an intelligence specialist – OSINT on both the challenging and complex theme of public order and the dynamic and sensitive theme of undermining. Based on your competencies, profile, experience and any preference, we will determine in good consultation which theme you will eventually work on. As RIK, we must also remain flexible because we are subject to social developments. 'Where it happens, we must want to be' and that requires flexibility in work and a broad perspective.

Who are you?

You are the colleague who likes to tackle things and is very skilled in OSINT. It is also important that you dare to take initiative. You are curious and have an intrinsic feeling for the theme of public order and/or undermining. Furthermore, you are able to provide explanations and involve colleagues in the latest developments, and you can express yourself well verbally/in writing. Thanks to your proactive attitude, you see where opportunities lie and you work proactively together in the OSINT network, within the DRIO and beyond. You can quickly analyze problems and try to solve them. You enjoy making a department function and develop digitally safely. You have the necessary organizational talent for this. You work discreetly and can deal with very sensitive information, which is crucial for both themes. In addition, you have the necessary humor to be able to put things into perspective.

Furthermore:

  • do you have a higher professional education (bachelor's) work and thinking level*;
  • are you well informed about the latest digital developments and new systems in the market;
  • you don't have a nine-to-five mentality.

What we offer

The location is Amsterdam. There is room for 2 fte (1 fte for the theme public order and 1 fte for the theme undermining). This is a position for 36 hours per week.

Depending on your background, you will follow a 14-week training for specific employability (36 hours per week) at the Police Academy, possibly with an additional training program required for the position. During this training(s), you will receive all the salary agreed with you. Positive completion of the mandatory assessment is a condition for starting the training. During the internal specific police training you will be temporarily appointed as a civil servant in training. After completing the training we will offer you a temporary appointment, with a trial period of one year. After this trial period a permanent appointment will follow as soon as possible.

Within the police, we invest in your future. We offer extensive development opportunities and an attractive package of employment conditions. Think of:

  • a gross monthly salary of at least €3,200 and a maximum of €5,156 (scale 9 Bbp) based on a 36-hour working week;
  • an Individual Choice Budget (IKB) that consists of two parts:
  • A gross part of 17.86% of your salary. With this budget you can compose a part of your employment conditions yourself. For example, think of paying out your budget, buying vacation hours or development activities such as training.
  • A net share of €377 per year. This budget can be used for sustainability goals, union dues and vitality.
  • an excellent pension plan at ABP and paid parental leave ( more information about leave, arrangements and options ).

The formal function within the police function structure is operational specialist A.
